Where are you from originally? What have you experienced being a creator that has lived in LA, now living in another place?

Chicago, Illinois! lived In LA for 14 years; at the time it was around 2011 and there were more film and tv opportunities in LA then in the Midwest. I am currently resetting in my hometown of Chicago. My best lesson learned from over a decade in LA is never compare your journey to others. There isn’t one path to working in the entertainment industry to find what works best for you personally.

Currently making it work in Chicago! I found social media (I found THIS podcast opportunity on IG!) is very helpful. I follow a ton of accounts for things I passionate about such as horror and pop culture. A big percentage of these accounts post remote opportunities.

What do you consider to be your major creative influences across genres?

I love seeing people that look like me on tv and film and that really inspires me to keep going.

What’s your favorite scary story, across mediums?

The film Campfire Tales (1997) has a story about a girl thinking her dog is under her bed, licking her hand. Only to glance at her mirror and see the words “People Lick Too” written across it. She then sees a man under her bed in the reflection of her mirror.

How do you feel about the current explosion of horror media? Where do you think it’s stemming from?

So happy! Was excited when The Substance (2024) was recognized at the Academy Awards and hearing how Terrifier 3 (2024) and the new “Conjuring” film (The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025)) are dominating box office numbers is so cool. I think seeing a horror movie on the big scream is a very epic experience. It makes going to the movies worth it.

Is there a particular craft/program you feel you’ve learned the most from?

I did theater as a kid and that really helps you focus.

If you could’ve been a part of any horror movie, what would that movie be and who would you play? Why?

The “Scream” franchise. Being an opening credit kill would be so awesome.

What advice do you have for creatives that are just starting out?

Really be specific in what goals you want and why. Having a clear direction can help you map out a logical, rational, and professional path to make it happen.
